Residential Christmas Lights: two-story home outlined in red and warm white C9 Christmas lights at dusk

Residential Christmas Light Installation in Piney Point Village

Residential Christmas lights in Piney Point Village start with the architecture, because most village homes are custom builds with a strong style. A French-inspired house with a steep slate roof reads cleanly with crisp warm white C9s along the eaves and each dormer outlined on its own. A Georgian brick facade suits lit wreaths centered in every window and garland around the door surround. A Mediterranean home with a clay tile roof looks right with lit arches and loggia openings rather than a busy roof. A modern stone-and-glass house calls for restraint: one clean horizontal line and a few lit trees.

Then we layer, because these homes sit well back from the street and are seen at three distances. From the gate, guests see wrapped trunks lining the drive. From the motor court, the roofline and facade take over, so bulb spacing and line straightness matter most there. At the front door, lit garland and wreaths carry the welcome to arm's length, and entry urns are packed with lit evergreen and boxwood picks, with the cord run out through the drainage hole so no wire shows on the steps. Bulb size follows the same viewing-distance logic, as our C7 vs C9 guide explains.

Lighting the Grounds, Not Just the House

Piney Point lots are known for big trees, and each species takes light differently. On live oaks we wrap the trunk from the ground to the first branch, then carry the spiral out along the major limbs for a canopy that glows from within. Southern magnolias take mini lights tucked deep into the branches, where the glossy leaves bounce the light back out. Crepe myrtles get each bare trunk wrapped individually, and boxwood hedges and parterres get net or mini lights that tie the garden back to the house. See our outdoor tree lighting page for trunk and canopy wrap options.

Many village homes are lived in from the back, where the pool, loggia and terrace are the view from the family room, so the design can wrap around the house with softer lighting there: garland on the loggia, mini lights in potted citrus or olive trees, and color for the grandchildren. Every plan includes in-season service calls and January removal. See the full range of residential Christmas lights we design across Houston. If you would rather keep the eaves lit all year, ask about permanent lighting in Piney Point Village, which covers the roofline while we still dress the trees and entry each holiday season, starting in early November.

  • ✓ Crepe myrtle trunks wrapped one by one

Home Design Guide

Planning Home Christmas Lights in Piney Point Village

Good residential designs in Piney Point start with a little homework from the homeowner. These four steps help you decide what to light, which white to choose and where the design needs extra care, so your free design consult is spent refining a plan instead of starting one from scratch.

01

Walk Your Lot at Dusk Before the Consult

Walk the property about 20 minutes after sunset, when lights first start to matter. Note where the canopy hides the roofline from the gate, which trees frame the drive, and which door your family actually uses, since many village households arrive through a motor court or side garage rather than the front walk. Check the view from the windows guests will use in December too, such as a guest suite over the motor court. Bring those notes, or photos taken at dusk, and the design starts from how you live.

02

Match Your Holiday White to the Oak Uplights

Many village estates already moonlight their live oaks or wash the facade with landscape fixtures, usually at 2700K or 3000K. Ask your landscape lighting company which it is, or check the label on a fixture, and we match the holiday white to it so the roofline and tree wraps sit with the existing lighting instead of fighting it. Cool white suits a few modern stone-and-glass houses, but beside warm uplights it reads blue.

03

Plan Cords for Second-Story Window Wreaths

Lit wreaths in upper windows look elegant, but each one needs power. On brick and stone facades, we can route a thin cord along trim lines or behind downspouts down to an existing outdoor outlet, so it disappears both at night and by day. Where no clean route exists, battery-powered LED wreaths with built-in six-hour timers avoid cords entirely; plan on one battery swap around mid-December so they stay bright through New Year's. Decide which windows matter most, usually those facing the motor court, before committing to a full row.

04

Go Easy on Young and Newly Planted Trees

Village teardowns and new builds often come with freshly planted live oaks or magnolias still on stakes. Young bark is thin, so we wrap those trunks loosely, skip heavy limb wraps and never tie lights to stake wires. Everything comes off in January, before spring growth, so nothing tightens around a growing trunk. If your arborist has a tree on a watering or recovery plan after construction, tell us, and we keep cords and foot traffic out of its root zone.

Piney Point Village Residential Christmas Lights FAQ

+Who installs residential Christmas lights in Piney Point Village, TX?
Glacier Lights, a Houston holiday lighting company, designs and installs home displays for Piney Point Village and the other Memorial Villages. It starts with a walk of the lot with you or your house manager, or a review of photos you send, followed by a written design you approve. Glacier supplies the commercial-grade LED lights, garland and wreaths, installs them, handles in-season service calls and takes everything down in January. Call (281) 549-0929 or email getglacierlights@gmail.com to start.
+How much do home Christmas lights cost in Piney Point Village?
It depends on the design, so we quote in layers you can mix and match: roofline first, then drive and specimen trees, then entry garland and wreaths, then the back terrace. On wooded village lots, tree count and wrap density move the number most, since a big live oak with its limbs wrapped takes far more light and labor than a trunk alone. Your free custom quote shows each layer separately, and our Houston cost guide explains typical industry ranges.
+Can you light the tall pine trees on my lot?
Yes, within reason. Mature pines here are often 60 feet or taller, with bare trunks well above a ladder's reach, so lighting the canopy is not practical. Instead we wrap the trunk in a tight spiral to a set height a lift can reach safely, and keep that height the same on every pine so the row reads as one design. Pines that frame the drive or the gate make the strongest impression.
+What size wreaths and garland suit a large facade?
A wreath that looks generous on a standard door disappears on a two-story entry, so double doors and tall surrounds usually call for 36 to 48 inch wreaths, and second-story windows for 24 to 30 inch. Garland is sized to the column or door surround so it looks full, not thin. We size each wreath and garland from on-site measurements or from photos with door and window dimensions, and all of it comes lit with warm white mini lights.
+Do you design home lighting in Bunker Hill Village too?
We do, as our residential Christmas lights in Bunker Hill Village page shows for the village next door. A home there may sit closer to the street or under a different mix of pines, oaks and magnolias than yours, so we design from that lot's own trees and sightlines. A short setback puts the roofline and front beds in view at once, so shrubs and the entry carry more of the design.
