Permanent Lighting: roofline Christmas lighting framed by trees at night

Permanent Lights for Woodlands Homes, Hidden by Day

Permanent Christmas lights in The Woodlands mount once and stay: a low-profile LED track fastened under the eave or along the fascia, finished to match your trim. In daylight it reads as part of the roof edge, which matters in a community where many exterior changes need covenant approval and streetscapes are meant to look natural. After dark, each RGBW light can glow warm white, shift to red and green for Christmas, turn orange and purple for Halloween, or run Astros or Texans colors on game days, all from a phone app. Glacier designs the layout, installs the track and sets up the controller with you before leaving.

It suits wooded streets particularly well. Under a pine canopy, a soft warm white glow along the eaves keeps the front of the house from disappearing into the trees after dark, every night of the year, not only in December. Each light sits in the track at a fixed spacing, so lines stay straight along long eaves without clips that loosen in the wind, and none of it comes down before spring storms. There are no ladders in November, no tangled strands in the garage and no January takedown. Weighing it against a seasonal display? Compare both in our permanent vs traditional Christmas lights guide.

  • ✓ Track finished to match your trim
  • ✓ Warm white accent light every night
  • ✓ Scenes for holidays and game days
  • ✓ No yearly install or January takedown

How Permanent Holiday Lighting Works in The Woodlands

A permanent layout favors continuous horizontal eaves and clean peaks, since the track follows the roof edge rather than wrapping columns or trees. At a free design consult we decide which rooflines, gables and peaks to light and where each run begins and ends. We measure each run, confirm the soffit and fascia can hold the mounting channel, and pick the garage wall for the power supply and controller. On install day the crew fastens the track, seats the lights at even spacing, connects the controller, and installs the app on your phone with you before leaving, including a first warm white schedule for dusk.

After that you are in charge. Save scenes for Christmas, the Fourth of July, Halloween and birthdays, and schedule warm white to come on at dusk and dim at bedtime, even while you travel. If a section stops responding, note which zone and which part of the run is dark when you call, so the crew brings the right parts. See how the system works on our permanent Christmas lights page. Prefer classic C9 strands and wrapped pines for December? Our Christmas light installation in The Woodlands covers seasonal displays, and the two pair well, with the track along the eaves and seasonal wraps on the pines out front.

  • ✓ Layout planned around eaves and peaks
  • ✓ Powered from an outlet you already have

Planning Permanent Christmas Lights in The Woodlands

Track that stays on a Woodlands house all year has to clear covenant questions, blend with the trim in daylight, and run on a controller your Wi-Fi can reach. These four steps cover approval, finish, zones and controls. Settle them at the design stage and the eave line looks built in rather than added on.

01

Ask about covenant approval before you book

In The Woodlands, many exterior changes need approval under the community's covenants, and gated sections may have their own association on top of that. Before scheduling, ask The Woodlands Township's covenant administration staff or your association whether permanent eave lighting needs an application. Useful items to have ready are a product sheet, the track finish, a photo of each elevation marked where the track will run, and the hours you plan to run it.

02

Match the track finish to your fascia and trim

Stained cedar fascia suits a brown or bronze track. On brick or stone homes with painted white or cream trim, a white track disappears against the fascia. On stucco homes with deep eaves, the track can tuck under the soffit edge so it is nearly invisible from the drive, and fascia painted black or dark gray calls for a black track. Hold a finish sample against your trim in daylight, then look again at dusk, before deciding.

03

Split the house into front and rear zones

Many lots here face a greenbelt, golf course or lake out back. You may want warm white on the street side every night, but a full color scene over the patio only when friends are over. Dividing the eaves into zones in the app, such as front and rear or garage and main house, gives you that control. Decide zones at the design stage, since adding one later means rerouting a run.

04

Check the garage Wi-Fi signal before install day

The controller usually mounts on a garage wall, and in a large house with the garage at the far end from the router, the signal there can be weak. A few days ahead, carry your phone to the spot where the controller will mount and try streaming a short video. If it stalls, add a mesh point or Wi-Fi extender on the garage side of the house so scene changes reach the lights without lag. Keep your network name and password handy, since the crew pairs the controller to your Wi-Fi during app setup.

The Woodlands Permanent Lighting FAQ

+How much do permanent Christmas lights cost in The Woodlands?
Cost follows the house. The biggest drivers are total linear feet of track, one-story versus two-story eaves, how many gables and peaks break up the runs, how many separate zones or controllers you want, and how far the track sits from a usable outlet. A free design consult, on site or from your photos, gives us the measurements for a custom quote. For typical industry ranges in the Houston market, see our permanent Christmas lights cost guide.
+Who installs permanent Christmas lights in The Woodlands, TX?
Glacier Lights designs, mounts and programs app-controlled RGBW permanent lighting across The Woodlands, from Grogan's Mill and Cochran's Crossing to Creekside Park. Our own crew handles the consult, the track finish, the install and the app setup, and the same team handles seasonal displays if you also want trees wrapped in December. Send a curbside photo of each elevation to start your layout.
+Will gutter cleaning or pine needles affect permanent lights?
Not usually. The track mounts under the eave or on the fascia, not inside or on the gutter, so the needle cleanouts most Woodlands homes need in fall and spring do not touch it. Tell your gutter service the lights are there so nobody hooks a ladder stabilizer against the track. If a falling pine limb or a ladder strike ever damages a section, that length can be replaced without redoing the whole run.
+How do permanent lights hold up in Montgomery County weather?
The LEDs and track are built for outdoor use and sit under the roof edge, out of most direct rain and sun. North of Houston that means heavy spring thunderstorms, summer tropical storms that can bring down pine limbs, humid summers in the 90s and the occasional hard freeze. Connections are sealed, cable runs are secured against wind, and the controller mounts on a garage wall, out of the rain and away from the water heater.
+Do you install permanent lighting near The Woodlands?
Yes. We install across north and northwest Houston, including Spring, Conroe and permanent Christmas lights in Cypress. Outside The Woodlands, exterior changes are often governed by each subdivision's own HOA or deed restrictions rather than one community-wide covenant office, so ask yours about eave lighting before we schedule.
